the beginning

Hi! We're the Hoppels. Recently married, currently nomads, moving across the country in two weeks & ready for a great adventure.

Despite the fact that I (Andrea) tend to have more starts than finishes (ie. this project), we want to try to keep up with this so that we can keep everyone up to date because, let's face it, our plans have changed a decent number of times.

Yesterday marked one month of marriage for us. From 22nd to 22nd we've had lots of ups and downs--living wherever we're visiting, sorting through all of our things to figure out how to pack minimally, spending time with friends and family, enjoying sweet moments with Jimmy's grandma at the end of her life, and praying about what we have coming up next. Mid-August, we'll be leaving Ohio and heading for Redding, CA where we plan on settling for a while. And we are so. excited.

Speaking of, I should probably explain the title of this blog--"Adventure Buddies". Jimmy and I started hanging out in the fall of our senior year. Unbeknownst to either of us, both he & I had made plans to visit friends out in Redding over fall break. Eventually we figured out that we both were making the same plans and we decided to travel together. We had started going on little coffee dates but weren't technically dating but we knew we were something. And in that funny little way that everything seems to happen when you're first dating, we jokingly called each other "adventure buddies". The pre-dating term everyone uses.

Little did we know our little silly nickname would be so telling of the next few years. We have travelled all over the country together, lived on different sides of it for six months, have big aspirations of traveling the whole world, and are getting ready to set out on a big adventure starting our life together across the country from where we grew up. And we wouldn't have it any other way.
